The intake process is the first step in starting assessment or therapy services at the OICBT. Our personalized intake process gathers information to ensure the best match tailored to your needs, goals, and preferences to ensure you obtain the most of your services.
We prioritize your needs, preferences, values, and experiences to emphasize collaboration, empowerment, and informed choices.
We practice with a comprehensive lens, considering the interconnectedness of physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
All recommendations and services are guided by research tools, your feedback, and best care practices.
You are provided comprehensive information about the advantages and disadvantages, and alternatives of different treatment options to empower your decision making. To facilitate your access to care, we provide a variety of clinical services that allow access to cost-effective, evidence-based treatment that can be tailored to your individual situation.
Self-understanding is the process of gaining insight into your own thoughts, feelings, motivations, values, strengths, weaknesses, and life experiences. It involves developing a deeper awareness and comprehension of yourself, which can lead to personal growth, self-acceptance, and improved decision-making. The aim of our intake process is to align services with your values, goals, and authentic self.
Clients can start services by self-referring through our “Contact Us” page, where you’ll find an option to complete a confidential Clinical Screener form. This brief form (5-10 minutes) asks about your preferred services or therapist, mental health, current situation, insurance needs, and any questions you may have. After submitting the form, you will be sent a link that will allow you to book an appointment with the appropriate service. In some cases, a care coordinator may reach out for additional information. In every case, our goal is to match you with the right services that fit your needs as quickly as possible.
Once your appointment is booked, you’ll receive an email with next steps. For most services, this includes completing a detailed “Pre-Intake” form, which covers your mental health history, therapy goals, and includes a consent form outlining our policies. Your therapist or diagnostician will review this form before your first session.
If we determine during the Clinical Screener review or your therapy sessions that another service would better meet your needs, we’ll guide you to other trusted professionals, either within our organization or externally. We are committed to providing care only in areas where we have specialized training and experience. All decisions are guided by research and best practices.
We also prioritize diversity and inclusivity, offering services to clients from various backgrounds, identities, and experiences.

The purpose of the Clinical Screener is to obtain brief information about your service preferences and assessment/therapy goals so that we can match you to the best services personalized to your needs. The Clinical Screener is a required first step to verify we have the services suited to you. All information is kept strictly confidential and only shared with our care coordination team, and if you proceed with services, your diagnostician and/or therapist.
In this situation we will provide you the contact information of other mental health service providers who we trust. We only provide services in those areas where we have the correct training, experience and competencies to ensure you receive the best care. While we aim to determine as early as possible (i.e, prior to your first appointment), at times only further evaluation can clarify needs and fit.
